Planning for AI starts with your existing infrastructure
AI adoption is a technology decision with practical consequences for the systems and information your organisation already uses. Understanding those foundations helps you identify what needs attention before a wider rollout.
Look beyond the tool
Start with a useful business goal and consider the information and services involved. For organisations exploring Copilot in Microsoft 365 or AI services in Azure, the questions include:
- Access. Who can see the information the service will use, and are those permissions appropriate?
- Infrastructure. How will it connect to the existing environment and be supported?
- Ownership. Who agrees its use, reviews costs and manages changes?
Microsoft's Copilot data and security guidance is a useful reference when reviewing Microsoft 365 access and information handling.
Agree a practical starting point
An infrastructure review can turn these questions into prioritised actions for identity, connectivity and governance, giving your team a clearer basis for planning adoption.
